Vacation Guide to Southwest Florida

Gulf Coast Symphony

Description

Founded in 1996, the Gulf Coast Symphony is the premier community orchestra of Southwest Florida and one of the most dynamic community orchestras in the United States. They are recognized for their high-quality symphonic performances as well as their active community engagement and commitment to arts education. The Symphony season runs from October through June and features the highly popular Symphonic Pops Series and the Classical Access Series, both of which are held at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall. A holiday concert, a free outdoor pops concert, and two family concerts are also scheduled each year. In addition to bringing world-class guest artists to Lee County for the pops and classical concerts, they strive to promote the careers of distinguished emerging artists by featuring them as soloists in concerts and solo recitals. Set on the campus of Florida SouthWestern State College, The Mann theater seats more than 1,800. All season subscriptions are handled by the Gulf Coast Symphony Office. Single tickets are sold by the Mann box office (239.481.4849). ** Southwest Florida Traveler highly recommends the Gulf Coast Symphony performances. **

Area Information

Fort Myers

Fort Myers, also known as the City of Palms, is the historical heart of Southwest Florida. Visitors to the Fort Myers area will enjoy family attractions, golf, boating, shopping and dining. Fort Myers is the home of the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford Winter Estates , built in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s; tours of these estates and gardens are a top attraction in Fort Myers. During March, visitors come to see the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins spring training. For more information, please see our Fort Myers Travel Guide.
