Attractions:
The first stop for visitors to the Estero area may be to head to the beach! Down U.S. 41 and heading west on Bonita Beach Road, you’ll find the beaches. When they’ve had enough sun, or encounter the occasional rainfall, it’s time for shopping and getting a bite to eat. Other activities might include a boat rental or a round of miniature golf. Hertz Arena hosts a variety of sporting events and sits just north of the Miromar Outlet Shops on Ben Hill Griffin Road. The Koreshan State Historic Site, which offers camping, canoeing and a nature trail. Be sure to check our pages of neighboring communities for more attractions.
Location:
Only two years old, Estero is growing fast, with fine residential communities and businesses filling in south of Fort Myers and north of Bonita Springs. The Southwest Florida International Airport is just north of this area.
Beaches:
To get to the Gulf and its beautiful beaches, take U.S. 41 south and then head west on Bonita Beach Road (County Road 865). Turn south on Barefoot Beach Road to get to Barefoot Beach or continue north on 865, which becomes Hickory Beach Boulevard. All along the way you’ll see nice spots to stop for your sunning. Just before Lover’s Key State Park on the way to Fort Myers Beach, you’ll see the Dog Beach entrance, where dogs are allowed to run free and play with fellow canine friends.
Shopping:
The shopping destinations located in Estero have expanded greatly over the past several years. Coconut Point Mall is a large outdoor shopping center in the area, located off U.S. 41 at Coconut Road in Estero. This mall has a vast assortment of stores, such as Dillards department store, Best Buy, Tommy Bahama, Apple Store, Bed Bath & Beyond and Target, just to name a few. There is also a good variety of restaurants and a movie theater. Also in Estero, just off I-75 at Corkscrew Road, you’ll find the Miromar Outlet Mall featuring approximately 140 stores and several restaurants. In season there is a weekly farmer’s market and excellent winter art festivals hosted at the Coconut Point Mall.
Dining:
The dining options in Estero are numerous to mention more than a handful here. For the finest of dining, nearby options include Angelina’s Ristorante for Italian, Roy’s Restaurant for Hawaiin fusion cuisine and Chops City Grill steakhouse. Some national favorites include TGI Fridays, Ruby Tuesdays, Ruth’s Chris and California Pizza Kitchen. For watching sports while you dine, check out Duffy’s Sports Grill and Beef O’Brady’s in Estero, Bokampers at Coconut Point. Best bets for breakfast are First Watch on Rt. 41 across from Coconut Point Mall, the new Skillets in the University Village along Ben Hill Griffin Pkwy., and the Perkins Restaurant at Corkscrew & Ben Hill Griffin Pkwy.
Accommodations:
The Estero area offers a variety of accommodations for every budget. For an upscale retreat, the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort is a great choice. You’ll also find a number of mid-range and budget hotels/motels throughout the area. For seasonal stays, many of the fine gated communities have rentals available with a 30 or 60 day minimum.
